Figurative

Painting is infinitely a minute part of my personality. Salvador Dalí

Working with models started many years ago when I was a young student studying Fine Art in Sweden. Since then, I have had a fascination with drawing and painting the human form. It is so magical, and as an artist I am always overcome with an overwhelming feeling of respect for the person sitting for me. I have drawn and painted imaginative figures, or memories of people I have known. The setting in which I place my subjects tells a story, or rather expresses a feeling or emotion.  For those observing my work, they are free to create their own stories and interpretations of the images before them. The idea of masks stems from the time I lived in East Africa. I find this theme endless: it allows me to simplify and play with form and stylisation.  I am not bound by making my art realistic true to life.
